Translobula plate neuron that terminates in lobula layer 4 with both fine and bleb-type terminals. It displays both fine and bleb-type arborizations in lobula plate layer 3 and 4. It is a glutamatergic neuron (Raghu and Borst, 2011).
The neurotransmitter was assessed by labelling cells with a vGlut[CNSIII]-GAL4 driver (FBti0129148) (Raghu and Borst, 2011). Pre- versus postsynaptic innervation judged by scoring of terminal morphology from figures in Fischbach and Dittrich (1989) as assessed by FlyBrain Neuron DB. Not identified in FlyWire or Janelia optic lobe EM data.
