It is a secondary neuron that develops from the WEDa2 (BAlp3) neuroblast (Bates et al., 2020). There are approximately six of these neurons per hemisphere and they are GABAergic (Dolan et al., 2019; Baker et al., 2022). It responds to both male sine and pulse song (Baker et al., 2022).
