In the brain, it lacks a dorsal projection beside the midline, instead reaching the superior medial protocerebrum via a lateral loop (Wang et al., 2020; Sturner et al., 2025). It also has an ipsilateral ventral neurite (Wang et al., 2020; Sturner et al., 2025). There is one of these cells per hemisphere (Sturner et al., 2025).
