Adult fruitless neuron with its cell body located between the lateral superior protocerebrum and the optic lobe (Yu et al., 2010). It projects ventrally, arborizing in the dorsal anterior lobula then follows the great commissure to the contralateral lobula (Yu et al., 2010). It develops from neuroblast VPNp1 (Ito et al., 2013; Yu et al., 2013). There are approximately 24 of these cells per hemisphere (Cachero et al., 2010).
Lobula columnar neuron whose cell body lies in the dorsal area of the lateral cell body rind (Schumacher et al., 2019). It belongs to the VPNp1 lateral hemilineage (Dorkenwald et al., 2024; Schlegel et al., 2024). It has its main dendritic arbors in the ipsilateral lobula layers 2 and 4, covering only the anterior lobula (Schumacher et al., 2019; Dorkenwald et al., 2024; Schlegel et al., 2024). It projects to the superior posterior slope of both hemispheres and the ipsilateral posterior lateral protocerebrum (Dorkenwald et al., 2024; Schlegel et al., 2024). There are approximately 6 of these cells per hemisphere (Dorkenwald et al., 2024; Schlegel et al., 2024).
Adult lateral horn output neuron of the PV3b1 group that fasciculates with the PV3 primary neurite tract (Bates et al., 2020). It is a secondary neuron that is part of the BLD5 (VPNp1) posterior hemilineage (Bates et al., 2020). It is cholinergic (Bates et al., 2020).
Adult lobula visual projection neuron of the LoVP92 group (Nern et al., 2025). It belongs to the VPNp1 lateral hemilineage (Nern et al., 2025).
