SMP367 [FBbt_00111317]

Adult descending neuron that expresses Crustacean cardioactive peptide (CCAP), whose soma is located in the posterior superior medial protocerebrum cell body rind, mediolateral to the mushroom body calyx (Selcho et al., 2018; Reinhard et al., 2024). It belongs to the SMPpv1 hemilineage (Schlegel et al., 2024; Dorkenwald et al., 2024). There are two of these neurons per hemisphere, with seemingly identical innervation patterns, and they are the only CCAP cells of the central brain to survive throughout adulthood (Selcho et al., 2018). It arborizes, mainly ipsilaterally, in the superior medial protocerebrum, with pre- and postsynapses (Selcho et al., 2018; Schlegel et al., 2024; Dorkenwald et al., 2024). It follows the median bundle to innervate the flange on both sides (Selcho et al., 2018). It is involved in regulating ingestion (Gonzalez Segarra et al., 2023).

Neuron from Selcho et al. (2018) must correspond to the CCAP neuron in Gonzalez Segarra et al. (2023) as it is the only brain type that does not die and it has similar morphology. Mapped to DNpe048 in FlyWire based on reference to Gonzalez Segarra et al. (2023) in Reinhard et al. (2024) and DNpe048 is synonymous with SMP367 in FlyWire and Schlegel et al. (2024).
