ORN_VM3 [FBbt_00067009]

Adult olfactory receptor neuron (ORN) that expresses Or98a (Benton et al., 2025). Its dendrite transduces signals from antennal basiconic sensillum ab8 and it responds to esters, alcohols and ketones (Benton et al., 2025). Its axon innervates antennal lobe glomerulus VM3, bilaterally (Benton et al., 2025). It develops from an Nba precursor (Benton et al., 2025). There are approximately 20 of these cells on each side (Benton et al., 2025).

Antennal basiconic sensillum ab4 is bidendritic. According to Hallem et al., 2004, adult ORN 43b corresponds to the functionally defined ORN ab8A. We can therefore deduce that adult ORN 9a corresponds to ORN ab8B.
