Adult interneuron that receives input in around 20 columns of lobula layer 6 (Nern et al., 2025. In the central brain it has pre- and post-synapses in the ipsilateral posterior lateral protocerebrum and in the superior medial protocerebrum of both hemispheres (Dorkenwald et al., 2024; Schlegel et al., 2024. There is one of these cells per hemisphere (Nern et al., 2025. (Dorkenwald et al., 2024)
Found in 3 EM datasets and identified at light level by Nern et al., 2025. Despite the name, Nern et al., 2025 do not report synapses in the accessory medulla.
