adult doublesex pC1 (male) neuron [FBbt_00047348]
Doublesex-expressing neuron of the male that is part of a cluster in the posterior medial region of the protocerebrum. There are approximately 60 of these cells per hemisphere (Zhou et al., 2014; Kimura et al., 2015; Pavlou et al., 2016; Ren et al., 2016). Many of these are activated by the presence of females, but not males (Takayanagi-Kiya and Kiya, 2019). Most pC1 cells are derived from the DM4 neuroblast, but one male-specific cell arises from DM6 (Ren et al., 2016).
