Embryonic peripheral glial cell associated with the intersegmental nerve (ISN) laterally to ePG8. It develops from neuroblast 1-3 (von Hilchen et al., 2008 and gives rise to a wrapping glial cell (von Hilchen et al., 2013. (von Hilchen et al., 2013, von Hilchen et al., 2008)

The position of the cell body of ePG9 is somewhat variable: it is found at its position 92% of the time. It can also be found at the positions of ePG7 (2%) or ePG8 (6%). This analysis was done using specific cell markers and taking into account which nerve the cell is associated with (von Hilchen et al., 2008.
