Nerve that exits the ventral nerve cord at the dorsal midline and bifurcates to form two lateral branches to the periphery (Gorczyca et al., 1994; Santos et al., 2006). These nerves are only found in abdominal segments (Gorczyca et al., 1994; Santos et al., 2006).

Santos et al. (2006) refer to the proximal region as the median nerve (MeN) and the post-branch point region as the transverse nerve.
