interstitial cell precursor [FBbt_00000446]
A large basophilic cell that is a precursor of the larval midgut interstitial cells. These cells delaminate from the tip of the posterior midgut primordium during stage 11 to form the midgut interstitial cell primordium. They intercalate back into the midgut epithelium towards the end of stage 14.
