It receives synaptic input from sensory neurons in the anterior AV compartment of the subesophageal ganglion (Miroschnikow et al., 2018. It innervates the prothoracic gland and the proventriculus (Shimada-Niwa and Niwa, 2014. There are three of these neurons per hemisphere (Miroschnikow et al., 2018.
