larval Hugin neuron [FBbt_00110921]
Larval neuron that expresses Hugin. There are approximately 20 of these neurons per larva, with their cell bodies located in the ventral mandibular and maxillary neuromeres (Melcher and Pankratz, 2005; Park et al., 2008). They can be divided into distinct subsets based on whether they project to the protocerebrum, ventral nerve cord, ring gland or the pharynx (Bader et al., 2007). All larval Hugin neurons receive synaptic input within the subesophageal zone (Schlegel et al., 2016).
