Adult Muscle

Small muscle that attaches near the base of the haltere, posterior to the basalar muscles (Lawrence, 1982; Dickerson et al., 2019). There are five of these muscles per haltere (Dickerson et al., 2019).

Muscle 78 in Lawrence (1982) (following Miller, 1950 nomenclature) is the posteriormost of two small muscles described as attaching near the base of the haltere - so probably corresponds to the haltere axillary muscle group in Dickerson et al. (2019) and Ehrhardt et al. (2023).
