Adult fruitless neuron that develops from neuroblast DL2 (CP3) (Ren et al., 2016 and has its cell body in the posterior inferior protocerebrum (Yu et al., 2010. In the brain, it has arbors in the lateral protocerebral complex (Yu et al., 2010. It descends to the ventral nerve cord, where it has presynaptic terminals in all three thoracic neuromeres (Cachero et al., 2010; Yu et al., 2010. There are many more of these cells in males than females (Ren et al., 2016. (Kimura et al., 2008, Cachero et al., 2010, Yu et al., 2010, Ren et al., 2016)
Cachero et al., 2010 report 14 cells per hemisphere.
