DopaMeander [FBbt_20000585]

Adult dopaminergic interneuron of the brain with its soma dorsal to the antler (Schlegel et al., 2024; Dorkenwald et al., 2024, Eckstein et al., 2024, Dahlhoff et al., 2025). It is a putative embryonic-born neuron (Schlegel et al., 2024; Dorkenwald et al., 2024. It remains ipsilateral, receiving input in the anterior ventrolateral protocerebrum (AVLP) and the gnathal ganglion and having output synapses in the AVLP (Schlegel et al., 2024; Dorkenwald et al., 2024. There is one of these cells per hemisphere (Schlegel et al., 2024; Dorkenwald et al., 2024, Dahlhoff et al., 2025). Its activity increases walking speed and turning (Dahlhoff et al., 2025). Cell type based on Hemibrain data (Scheffer et al., 2020, updated using FlyWire (FAFB) data (Dorkenwald et al., 2024; Schlegel et al., 2024 and identified at light level by Dahlhoff et al. (2025). Soma locations are based on the closest annotated neuropil region in FlyWire. Figure S3 of Dahlhoff et al. (2025) shows DopaMeander as AVLP476.
