A DH44 secreting neuron. Three bilateral pairs of these cells exist in the pars intercerebralis, all of which co-express leucokinin receptor. There are also DH44 neurons in the ventral nerve cord. DH44 neurons have been associated with desiccation tolerance and sugar sensing in the adult. (Cannell et al., 2016, Dus et al., 2015, Cabrero et al., 2002)
