It has a dorsal attachment site in the mid notum and a ventral attachment site in the metathoracic preepisternum, dorsoanterior to the coxa. It is posterior to the tergosternal and anterior to the lateral oblique dorsal muscles. It is innervated by the adult fruitless vMS2 neuron.
