An early elongation-stage spermatid of length 35-120 micrometers resembling a comet, with a bipartite parallel mitochondrial derivative that developed from the Nebenkern, with its diameter decreasing from 5 to 1 micrometers. The cytoplasmic inclusions in the mitochondrial derivative gradually disappear. The nucleus is round and clear. (Fuller, 1993)
