Mechanosensory neuron that extends its sensory dendrite into a single labellar taste bristle and has its soma with the gustatory receptor neurons and support cells of the same bristle (Montell, 2021). It follows the labial nerve and joins the maxillary-labial nerve to enter the brain, terminating in the subesophageal zone (Eichler et al., 2024. There is one of these per labellar taste bristle (around 30-40 per side) (Eichler et al., 2024. (Li and Montell, 2021, Eichler et al., 2024, Zhou et al., 2019)
Distinct from the md-L neuron.
