A large olfactory basiconic sensillum of the antenna that houses the dendrites of two highly-branched olfactory receptor neurons (Shanbhag et al., 1999, expressing Or22a and Or85b (Couto et al., 2005; de Bruyne and Baker, 2008; Grabe et al., 2016. It has a pore size of about 100 nm and a pore density of about 30 pores per square micrometer (Shanbhag et al., 1999. There are more of these sensilla in females than males (Benton et al., 2025. (Grabe et al., 2016, Couto et al., 2005, Benton et al., 2025, Shanbhag et al., 1999, de Bruyne and Baker, 2008)
Corresponds to LB-II2 of Shanbhag et al., 1999 based on number of neurons and similar number present in female and male.
