There are 9 of these per LSO: six proximal, solely mechanosensory, sensilla, one sensillum innervated by eight chemosensory neurons, and two distal sensilla, each innervated by one chemosensory and one mechanosensory neuron (Nayak and Singh, 1983; Chen and Dahanukar, 2017.
