Direct flight muscle extending from the anterior notum to the basalar of the wing (Sink, 2006). It serves to draw the wing horizontally forwards (Miller, 1950. It is innervated by the b1 motor neuron. (Trimarchi and Schneiderman, 1994, Hartenstein, 2006, Vigoreaux, 2006, Bate, 1993, Miller, 1950)
