Surface-associated, channel glial cell that lies at the ventral-end of the channel above the neuropil. There are two of these cells per hemisegment and their processes form, along with processes from the dorsal channel glia, a sheath structure that covers the inner surface of the dorsoventral channel. It develops from neuroblast NB7-4 (Beckervordersandforth et al., 2008. (Beckervordersandforth et al., 2008, Hartenstein, 2011, Ito et al., 1995)
