Adult Muscle
Ventral cervical muscle that connects to a more posterior medial region of the sternal apodeme than muscle 26 (Miller, 1950; Rivlin et al., 2004. There is one of these muscles on each side, innervated by a single motor neuron (Koenig and Ikeda, 1989; Gorko et al., 2024. Its motor neuron arrives via the cervical nerve and forms a branch for each of the six muscle fibers, with each branch bifurcating to run anterior-posterior along its fiber (Koenig and Ikeda, 1989. (Koenig and Ikeda, 1989, Gorko et al., 2024, Rivlin et al., 2004, Miller, 1950)
Based on sternal apodeme attachment posteromedial to muscle 26 and innervation via cervical nerve, this seems to correspond to SC-RE in Gorko et al., 2024.
