Adult Muscle
Any muscle cell (FBbt:00005074) that is part of some pretarsal depressor muscle (FBbt:00058847).
This muscle was originally described as located in the proximal tarsal segments (where it was numbered 44, 75, and 96 in the prothoracic, mesothoracic, and metathoracic leg respectively) with a tendon extending to the pretarsus. It was later found that there is no muscle fibers in any of the tarsal segments and that the tendon originates much more proximally in the femur, with muscle fibers located in both the femur and the tibia (Chapman, 1998; Soler et al., 2004).
