Neuroblast located relatively dorsally within the DAM group (Pereanu and Hartenstein, 2006). Similar to DAMd3, it generates a large lineage that follows a posteriorly-projecting tract (Wong et al., 2013; Hartenstein et al., 2015). SMPad2 mapped to DAMd2/3 in Eckstein et al.
