Local interneuron of the adult antennal lobe that belongs to the lateral antennal lobe neuroblast (ALl1) Notch OFF hemilineage (Schlegel et al., 2021. It targets a relatively large number of glomeruli, but there are several subtypes with different arborization patterns (Tanaka et al., 2021; Scheffer et al., 2020; Schlegel et al., 2021. It contributes to a larger portion of each glomerulus than an lLN1 cell (Tanaka et al., 2012. The majority of these cells (80-90%) are GABAergic (Okada et al., 2009. (Schlegel et al., 2021, Lai et al., 2008, Okada et al., 2009, Scheffer et al., 2020, Tanaka et al., 2012)
Based on descriptions/definitions in Lai et al., 2008 and Okada et al., 2009 the type B cells are equivalent to the LN2L cells - https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1373-1705.
