Adult fruitless neuron that develops from the first intermediate neural progenitor to form from neuroblast DM5 during the larval stage (Ren et al., 2016). There are 2 of these cells per hemisphere (Cachero et al., 2010; Ren et al., 2016) and they are part of the pIP-g cluster (Ren et al., 2016).
