Specialized epithelial cell of the embryonic/larval hindgut. These are large, polyploid, cuboidal or columnar epithelial cells. They do not appear to have the microvilli associated with midgut enterocytes, but some cells have apical infoldings. (Murakami and Shiotsuki, 2001)
