embryonic/larval alary muscle cell [FBbt_00001040]
Muscle cell of a T-shaped muscle that is attached dorsally to the cardiac tube. These muscle extend processes anteriorly and posteriorly along the pericardial cells, with a single process extending ventrally along the segment border to a dorsolateral attachment site on the epidermis. Contractions of the alary muscles control hemolymph inflow and support the cardiac tube. (Bate, 1993, LaBeau et al., 2009)
