DNp05 [FBbt_00047638]

Descending neuron belonging to the DNp group, having a cell body posterior to the inferior clamp (Matsuo et al., 2016; Namiki et al., 2018). The primary neurite extends anteriorly and bifurcates in the gorget, with a lateral branch projecting ventrolaterally to form postsynaptic terminals in the ipsilateral antennal mechanosensory and motor center zone B, wedge, posterior ventrolateral protocerebrum, including the LC4 glomerulus, posterior lateral protocerebrum, gorget and superior posterior slope (Matsuo et al., 2016). A medial branch crosses the midline, extends posterioventrally and forms presynaptic terminals in the contralateral saddle and both sides of the gnathal ganglion (Matsuo et al., 2016). It descends on the contralateral side of the cervical connective, fasciculates with the median tract of the dorsal cervical fascicle and innervates the intermediate tectulum, T1, T2 and T3 leg neuropils (Namiki et al., 2018). There is one of these cells per hemisphere (Namiki et al., 2018). It is cholinergic (Cheong et al., 2024).

Adult Cholinergic Nervous system

There is one of these cells per hemisphere (Namiki et al., 2018). It is cholinergic (Cheong et al., 2024).

Namiki et al. (2018), identify this as being morphologically similar to the contralateral giant mimetic descending neuron, described by Milde and Strausfeld (1990) (FBrf0239829), VGlut-F-500311, described by FlyCircuit (FBrf0212704).
