It has its soma in the pars intercerebralis and projects laterally, arborizing in the lateral protocerebral complex (Yu et al., 2010. There are approximately 23 of these cells per hemisphere (Cachero et al., 2010. (Yu et al., 2010, Lee et al., 2000, Ito et al., 2013, Yu et al., 2013, Kimura et al., 2008, Cachero et al., 2010)
